Following someone is a choice. Explore is not.
Instagram used to be mostly a list of posts from accounts you had chosen. It is now a mix of that and a large amount of material selected for you — Reels from accounts you have never seen, suggested posts between the ones you asked for, and an Explore tab built entirely from inference.
That distinction is the one Algoright works along. It leaves the posts from accounts you followed alone, and filters the algorithmic layer according to the categories you picked.
What you can filter
- Reels — hidden entirely with one switch, or filtered by category.
- Explore — sorted into the same 35 categories as everything else.
- Suggested posts in the main feed.
- Sponsored posts, as a separate switch.
How it decides
From the caption and the account name. It does not analyse images or video. Instagram captions are often short or purely decorative, which gives the classifier less to work with than a YouTube title — so expect the occasional miscategorisation, and correct it from the extension when it happens.

Questions about the Instagram filter
Can I hide Instagram Reels?
Yes. Reels can be hidden entirely with a single switch, the same way Shorts can be hidden on YouTube, or left visible and filtered by category instead.
Does it work on the Instagram mobile app?
No. Algoright is a browser extension and filters instagram.com in a desktop browser. It cannot reach inside the iOS or Android app. Since Instagram is predominantly used on mobile, this is a real limitation and worth weighing before subscribing.
Will I still see posts from people I follow?
Yes, that is the intended split. Accounts you deliberately followed are a choice you already made. Filtering targets the surfaces you did not choose — Explore, suggested posts and Reels.
