AI TikTok content filter — control what reaches your For You page

TikTok's For You page is almost entirely algorithmic, which makes it the hardest feed to use deliberately. Algoright sorts what appears there into 35 categories and hides the ones you have switched off.

Read this first: desktop browser only

Algoright is a browser extension, so it filters TikTok at tiktok.com in a desktop browser. It does not and cannot filter the TikTok mobile app — browser extensions have no access inside a native app. If TikTok is something you only use on your phone, this will not help you today. A mobile companion app is on the roadmap and is not shipped.

Why the For You page is different

On YouTube you can mostly avoid the feed by going straight to a subscription or a search. TikTok is not built that way. The For You page is the product, and it is designed to keep supplying content indefinitely without you choosing anything.

That makes category filtering more consequential here than anywhere else. Removing two or three categories you never wanted changes what an entire session looks like, because essentially every video you see came from the algorithm rather than from a decision you made.

What you can filter

  • Any of the 35 categories — including Gossip, Clickbait, Politics, Crypto, Gaming, Comedy, Fitness and Cooking.
  • Sponsored and promoted posts, as a separate switch.
  • Comment sections, if you want the video without the thread.

You can also invert the idea with Deep Work Mode and lock the feed to a single category — useful if you use TikTok for a specific interest and want none of the rest.

An honest note on accuracy

Classification reads the caption and the account name. TikTok captions are short, often slangy, and frequently say nothing about the actual subject — which gives the classifier less to work with than a descriptive YouTube title does. It will get some wrong.

When it does, you can correct the category from the extension, and the correction feeds back in. We would rather set that expectation here than have you discover it after paying.

Questions about the TikTok filter

Is TikTok filtering free?

No. YouTube filtering is free forever; TikTok, Instagram and X filtering are part of Pro, which is $4.99 a month or $49 a year and includes a 7-day free trial.

Does this work on the TikTok mobile app?

No, and this is the most important limitation to be clear about. Algoright is a browser extension. It filters TikTok in a desktop browser at tiktok.com. It cannot filter the iOS or Android app, because extensions cannot reach inside a native app. A mobile companion app is on the roadmap and is not shipped.

Will TikTok still work normally?

Yes. Search, profiles you follow, direct links and your own uploads are untouched. Filtering applies to the For You page and other recommendation surfaces.

How does it decide what a video is about?

From the caption and the account name, sorted into one of 35 categories. It does not analyse the video itself. Short captions carry less signal than YouTube titles, so expect it to be somewhat less precise on TikTok than on YouTube — you can correct a wrong call from the extension.

Can I control what TikTok recommends on my For You page?

Category filtering is the main control — remove the topics you never want and the rest of the For You page stays. If you want to remove TikTok's influence more completely, Deep Work Mode locks the feed to a single category you choose instead.

Try the free YouTube filter first

TikTok filtering is a Pro feature, but YouTube filtering is free and uses the same classifier. It is the cheapest way to find out whether this approach works for you before paying for anything.

Pro is $4.99 a month or $49 a year and includes a 7-day free trial.
