Changelog
v5.14LatestAugust 2026
- Now live on the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons and Microsoft Edge Add-ons
- The extension popup and on-page notices are now available in Spanish, Swedish, German and French, alongside English — pick a language from the new switcher in the popup header
- Signed-out visitors get a real signup CTA in the popup instead of a plain "Log in" line, and a clear card explains it when a daily anonymous limit is reached instead of silently going quiet
- TikTok, Instagram and X now explain themselves when filtering is off because of your plan, instead of just doing nothing with no explanation
- Anonymous (never signed in) use now has its own daily video cap, separate from a signed-up Free account — signing up buys real extra headroom instead of nothing
- Fixed the popup's rounded corners, which were being silently ignored by the browser and rendering square the entire time
- Removed a YouTube page-scrape used for extra classification signal, in favour of YouTube's own public oEmbed endpoint only — a small accuracy trade-off made for Terms of Service compliance
- Removed the YouTube home-feed layout override that was meant to pack filtered videos tightly together — it kept squeezing shelves (Shorts and others) into a single narrow column as YouTube changed its markup faster than the fix could keep up; a heavily-filtered feed may now show gaps instead, which is the safer trade-off
- New: set a weekly focus goal from the dashboard (what to watch, and a target) — a one-click "Lock my feed" button actually restricts your feed to that category, with a reminder card and a credit reward on Pro
- Store listing name now includes X, matching the description and every platform the extension actually filters
- Replaced the emoji category icons in the correction popover with proper icons matching the dashboard and pricing page
- Fixed weekly focus goal progress never moving from actually watching a video — only nearby recommendation cards were ever classified, not the video on the watch page itself
- Fixed activity counted just before the browser put the extension to sleep being discarded instead of saved, and made stats reach your dashboard within about a minute instead of waiting for a background timer that often never ran
v5.13August 2026
- Local classification now runs first for every video, on both plans — AI is only called for titles the on-device model is genuinely unsure about
- Corrections you submit (✓/✗) now persist properly and survive the extension restarting, so the classifier actually learns from them
- Fixed a bug where a category correction was silently discarded if that category had no existing exclusion list
v5.12July 2026
- Added a Category Display section: show or hide the category label, the confirm/correct buttons, and a new green/yellow/red dot for an at-a-glance signal
- AI classification now falls back across Groq, Cerebras, Gemini and OpenRouter, so one provider hitting its limit no longer degrades results
- Privacy policy updated to disclose the two new providers
- Fixes to Shorts filtering and the overlay styling
v5.11July 2026
- Reworked how the extension talks to the web app so filter settings stay in sync more reliably
- Various Shorts and feed-detection fixes
v5.9 – v5.10July 2026
- Firefox support actually works — Firefox reads a different manifest key and had been ignoring the background script entirely, so the extension installed and then silently did nothing
- Now listed on Firefox Add-ons and Microsoft Edge Add-ons alongside the Chrome Web Store
- Security: tightened database row-level access and locked down several API routes
v5.3 – v5.4July 2026
- Added the ✓/✗ feedback system for correcting a miscategorised video
- Real Stripe checkout for Pro
- Added a nudge to start browsing after install so the first filtered feed is easier to find
v5.1 – v5.2July 2026
- Pro now starts with a 7-day free trial — card collected, not charged until day 7
- Plan features are now actually enforced: Free filters YouTube, while TikTok, Instagram, X and Deep Work Mode require Pro (previously free accounts could use paid features)
- Trial users are no longer incorrectly downgraded to Free by the billing webhook
v4.8July 2026
- Added Hide Comments toggle — removes YouTube comment sections entirely
- Fixed YouTube Shorts freeze (video would freeze while audio continued playing)
- Redesigned Daily Focus heatmap to a GitHub-style contribution graph
- Welcome board now shows different setup flow for Web Store installs
- Pro plan is now the featured/recommended pricing tier
- Extension popup now shows Hide Comments filter toggle
v4.7June 2026
- Switched AI classification model to gemma2-9b-it (15 000 TPM — 2.5× higher rate limit)
- Reduced batch size and token usage to prevent Groq rate limit errors
- Deep Work Mode moved to the top of the filters list in popup
- Popup preview section on landing page moved above the feature list
v4.6May 2026
- AI-powered content classification now runs on every YouTube page
- Category labels shown on video thumbnails in real time
- Deep Work Mode — lock your feed to a single content category
- Hide Shorts and Reels across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram
- Focus session timer with live countdown in the popup
- Extension popup redesigned with stats grid and Algoright log
v4.0March 2026
- First public release of the Algoright browser extension
- Core distraction blocking: clickbait, sponsored posts, sidebar recommendations
- Basic analytics dashboard — filtered count and time saved
- Chrome Web Store submission package
